Why have hotun Brand Ambassadors?

Image of hotun brand ambassador Paul BarrecaBeing a hotun Brand Ambassador says so much more than just giving support to the product. It shows that the Brand Ambassador likes the product, uses it regularly, trusts it and wants to support its success.

That is why, here at RA Tech UK Ltd, we carefully select the installers who get to be invited to become a hotun Brand Ambassador.

(RA Tech UK Ltd is the manufacturing company responsible for the design, development and production of the hotun range of products and run by hotun inventor and professional plumber and HVAC design engineer, Russell Armstrong)

Quality installations? – Be the chosen one!

Image of hotun brand ambassador Richard BennettInstallers selected will  already have a track record of specifying, buying and using our hotun products over an extended period of time. They will have brought this to our attention by posting their installation on Social Media and tagging us in.

Their work and workmanship will be at the top end of the installation market. Not all installs can be “perfect”, we know this, and there are many reasons why an installation might not be a “Rolls Royce” or a “Ferrari” (although some of our BA’s produce work that is literally “out of this world!”)

Budget constraints from the client might mean that the installation has the minimum of components, but even a “basic” installation can be installed well.

Because of our industry knowledge, we can see the elements that go into a decent installation and that is what we look for.

Tag us in on your hotun installations

Image of hotun brand ambassador Jim DixonBy tagging us in, the installers who use hotun are saying they are proud of using our products. We get to see, over a period of time, the consistent quality of their work. It is only when an installer has all the elements we are looking for that they get invited to join our programme.

We do, however, allow for installers to propose themselves to us, (because we cant be in all places at all times so may miss someone). You will have already demonstrated the above ethos before you apply (see “Apply to become a hotun Brand Ambassador” below).

Giving back to the industry

Image of hotun brand ambassador Tom SelbyOther supporting factors to becoming a hotun Brand Ambassador is to already be demonstrating that you “give back” to the industry. Those that offer gentle guidance and support, either by being helpful to people in our industry “on the tools” or to those that are entering the world of “plumbing” will be recognised by us.

We do encourage would be plumbers to attend some form of formal education. But having obtained their qualifications, we live in a world where it is becoming more and more difficult to create their (boiler) work portfolio, our industry needs to offer alternatives.

All of our Brand Ambassadors can offer competent feedback and information to those seeking knowledge.

Who better to do this than someone already experienced in the industry with the added kudos of having got the endorsement of a major manufacturing company?

Industry Recognised hotun Brand Ambassadors

Image of hotun brand ambassador Dan TempestWe are proud to already have a few well-known and respected installers as Brand Ambassadors.

However, you don’t need to be “well known” or have a huge following on social media to become one of our team, that is not how we work.

That said, we are always proud if a BA goes on to become well known!

The gallery below allows you to get to know who our BA’s are. Please find them in your favorite Social Media platform by clicking through on the links. Please remember that some of our BA’s may only be on one platform (please read their Bio to get their “handles”)

The RA Tech Industry Ethos

Image of hotun brand ambassador Chris SmithWe are proud of our plumbing heritage. By promoting good practice, quality workmanship, and giving the benefit of our experiences to other up-coming plumbers, we actively support the industry.

We encourage our Brand Ambassadors to do the same. In one way or another, all of our BA’s have contributed to the industry, and this is something that we look out for when inviting installers to join our “BA” program.

Image of hotun brand ambassador Sam WattWe only select the best installers who already see the benefits and advantages of using the #hotun brand.

Becoming a hotun Brand Ambassador not only showcases the installers own personal ethos but enables us to form a partnership to promote hotun products and industry best-practice.

Dan's Profile

Dan is a second-generation plumbing and heating engineer, fully 18th Edition Electrical (Napit) Registered with 25 years industry experience, specialising in bespoke system design and installation.

Dan’s ambition is to reduce carbon emissions one installation at a time.

Dan's Comments about hotun products

“I choose to use the hotun tundish and hotun detect as my default choice for my installations. As most appliances are hidden away, the alarm unit is perfect otherwise the customers generally don’t know there’s an issue until water starts to come through the ceiling!

The visual and audible warnings that hotun detect gives, covers all bases and protects customers and their property. So, in my opinion, hotun products are the best in the field”

Chris's Profile

I started in the trade when I was 17 years old, getting an apprenticeship with a local reputable plumbing and heating company. I then passed my Gas exams at the age of 21 and have been at the same company for 7 years now. I currently do all types of installs such as combi conversions, system upgrades, boiler swaps etc.

I am very passionate about my work.

Chris's Comments about hotun products

“The hotun dry trap tundish is really easy to install, it saves time not having to run another pipe to external

hotun is simple to explain to the customer, in that, if they see water dripping through the tundish, this lets them know that their boiler or unvented water heater has a problem that needs fixing”

Paul's Profile

Paul is a 2nd generation plumber and Gas Safe heating engineer with over 20 years experience in the industry.

He prides himself on his work and his three top recommendations for running a successful business are honesty, reliability and good communication.

Paul's Comments about hotun products

I first used a hotun tundish years ago on one of my installations after a fellow engineer recommended them to me. It was a revelation!! Have used them ever since, such a great product which can be used for installations of multiple design.

The introduction of the detect is also a great idea! The number of clients I’ve had in the past who have unknowingly had dripping tundishes for years is worrying!

Profile

I have been in plumbing and heating since the minute I left school in 1999 aged 16. 25 years in the trade, 20 of those a gas engineer. I’ve been self-employed for coming up to 6 years now and love my job to bits. I have 2 young daughters that I hope one day may want to join the trade and carry on the business

Jim’s comments about hotun products

“The whole range is a game changer. The hotun tundish not only saves you installation time but also gives you that visual aspect no matter the amount of discharge! And the detect is genius. The audio aspect will alert your customer the minute an issue arises. Potentially saving them hundreds on otherwise undetected faults.”

I am Dan Young, a self-employed installer for just over 11 years, based in County Durham. I carry out all types of plumbing and heating work and cover from North Yorkshire and across to Newcastle. Nearly all my work is by word of mouth and I take pride in providing high standards and service. I buy hotun products online from McDonald Plumbing Supplies and have enjoyed great service from the hotun team so I am now proud to be a Brand Ambassador for the hotun range myself.

Dan’s comments about hotun products

I love new technology and this is how I discovered the hotun dry trap tundish which is the best product of its kind, designed and made with every need in mind, a wide variety of options such as the hotun protect shield. I install the hotun alarm because it gives my customers an instant audible alert so they call me before any damage has occurred.

I have been working mainly alongside my father Julian Selby since leaving school at 16 in 2004 and still continue to work together to this day. I fell like i couldn’t have been taught by any one better than him, with his experience starting off as a pipe fitter/welder in 1976 when leaving school and then in 1990 starting his own business – Julian Selby Heating, Plumbing and Gas (Celebrating its 35th year in business last month) this was aimed at the domestic market, but with his background in the commercial market gives us great experience in larger domestic properties too. With all I have been taught from him and still learn from him today I’m very grateful.

Tom’s comments about hotun products

I have been utilising the entire hotun range for several years, and it is built in our quotes for installations that necessitate expansion or temperature relief pipework.
I choose hotun not only because it’s a simple, smart and affordable product which keeps installs neat and compliant without the need for extra pipework, but when fitted with the detect unit it also gives a audible alarm to the end user that a problem is starting to arise, giving us the time to plan in a visit and fix the issue before any total breakdowns.
They are quick to fit, looks professional, and gives peace of mind that the job’s been done right with future maintenance in mind for either the heating or hot water system that’s fitted with a hotun.

Profile

With nearly 25 years of experience in the gas and heating industry, I’ve built a reputation for high standards, reliable service, and attention to detail. I’ve always enjoyed the technical side of heating — system design, diagnostics, and ensuring every install is efficient, compliant, and built to last.

I started Gas Man Cornwall to give customers a professional, transparent service with fixed pricing and long-term support. Every system I install is tailored to the property, with quality components and a clean, engineered finish.

Rich’s comments about hotun products

One product I consistently specify is hotun. It’s an innovative dry trap tundish that simplifies compliance with G3 regs by allowing visible discharge without needing to run pipework externally. It keeps installations neat, helps with ongoing service checks, and eliminates the need for unsightly or invasive pipe routes. It’s just one example of how I use well-thought-out products to deliver smarter heating solutions.
