Product Overview

Now with 10 Year Warranty!

10 year warranty logo hotun branding element

The hotun SF range of products, combines a tundish and dry-trap to provide a safe and visible discharge from a relief valve direct to a local waste or soil pipe, allowing a flow of water from the discharging T/PRV, whilst eliminating the risk of foul odours from the foul system entering back into the building AND providing regulation required, back-flow contamination & back-siphonage protection to prevent contamination of any wholesome water when connecting to the waste pipe (Category 5 risk water)

In a relief valve discharge application, due to the infrequent nature of the relief valve operating, a wet trap would dry out in time and thereafter allow foul odours back into the building, so is therefore not allowed to be used for PRV discharges.

The hotun 100C dry trap tundish was invented and patented back in 2014/15. It was the very first and original, dry trap tundish to be available specifically for boiler and unvented water heater installations as a one product solution and was the very first dry trap tundish to be accepted for use with many of Britains major and most respected boiler manufacturers, such as Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Glowworm, Ideal, Baxi, Potterton, Ariston, Intergas etc.

The Speefit range of the hotun tundish now allows a quick and easy way to fit the tundish on the pipe using the well know and trusted John Guest brand of fittings. The collet insert allows for the tundish to be fitted to the D1 pipework in a matter of seconds

    • hotun SF, is specifically designed and manufactured to achieve compliance for ALL aspects of the (T)PRV to drain installation, including easy visibility at the point of diagnosis with its open sided construction (a vital consideration for easy maintenance)
    • The hotun SF tundish can, if necessary, be easily cleaned whilst in situ, meaning that you do not need to remove it or take it apart for maintenance or cleaning
    • The spring and bolt are made from high quality A2 stainless steel meaning they will last for the lifetime of the system
    • The valve is made from our own molded high quality drainage specification EPDM rubber, we do not use sheet material meaning we are fully in control of the quality of the material.
    • hotun is rated for use up to 120°C so is suitable for use in all applications requiring a temperature rated dry trap tundish
    • all of our tundish products now carry a 10 year conditional warranty
    • Compatible with hotun detect, in-tundish alarm unit

All hotun dry trap tundishes are specifically designed to achieve full compliance (when installed in accordance with our installation instructions) with Water and Building Regulations.

Please note that, where required, the D2 and connecting soil pipe must be suitably rated for the appropriate temperatures and flow rates expected when the Temperature Relief Valve (TRV) is operating under failure conditions.

Compatible 1 1/4" Outlet Connections

The 1 1/4″ (32mm) outlet on the hiflo version is compatible with either universal compression or push-fit fittings.

Due to the material used in hotun plastic (acetyl) it will not successfully solvent weld, and due to its size, female solvent weld fittings will be too large for the male spigot.

It must also be noted that many solvent weld pipes are not of a sufficient grade (material) and are therefore not suitable to be used in unvented hot water heater D2 discharges when connected to a TEMPERATURE RELIEF VALVE discharge line*.

*NB – this note about the suitability of pipework materials is only relevant to applications that have a TEMPERATURE RELIEF VALVE operating at temperatures above 90°C over several cycles of flow.

For all applications that have a pressure relief valve only (eg boilers and small unvented water heaters) the issue of temperature and volume of water is not an issue and a much wider range of materials will be suitable for use.

TBA

hotun shield SF

Headline Information - Purpose

Purpose

To prevent deliberate or accidental contact with potentially scalding water dripping through the open tundish

Compatible with

hotun shield SF (HSSF) is only compatible with the “SF” ange of hotun tundishes, ie speedfit inlet. They are NOT compatible with our 100 range (threaded inlet) tundishes

Headline Information - When to use shield

hotun shield SF is designed to prevent the user from accidentally touching potentially scalding hot water.

It is therefore used on a risk assessment and job by job basis with the installer determining what the risk is (if any) and if there is a justification for fitting the shield with the additional safety that the shield brings

Compatible hotun SF tundish products

hotun shield SF (HSSF) is compatible with the “SF” range of hotun tundishes, ie push-fit inlet.

They are NOT compatible with our “100” (threaded inlet) range of tundishes or the hotun XLSF
