Showcasing some in-depth installs using hotun products

Peter rang our Technical Helpline shortly after Christmas as he had recently had a hotun, hotun detect and hotun shield fitted to his combi boiler. The detect unit had reported a level 1 alarm twice. He was advised to call the installer to check his system. Was it possible that his hotun detect was faulty? We would be happy to replace it but were concerned to know his installation was functioning correctly before any serious breakdown occurred. His hotun shield was a little untidy where it had been cut to accommodate the hotun detect unit. Ian offered to send him the new hotun protect shield free of charge. But please advise whether to include a replacement hotun detect.

Come the New Year and Ian had not heard anymore so he telephoned Peter to enquire if all was well.

The hotun detect had now registered a level 2 alarm, and the installer had advised that as the boiler was within warranty he should contact the manufacturer directly as this would save him costs. The manufacturer sent an engineer who replaced a faulty pressure relief valve and topped up the air pressure vessel, tested the system and all has been working well since. The hotun detect unit has done its job and given early alerts prior to a more major breakdown, and both heating and hot water have been available throughout the cold weather.

Ian did not need to replace the hotun detect unit which is reported showing its regular green light, indicating that all is well with the system. In the meantime Peter has received his hotun protect cover which does not need cutting to accommodate the hotun detect and looks much tidier. It still prevents the grand children from getting their fingers scalded, should there be any future pressure relief activity.
